Shades of grey

Safari Fusion blog | Shades of grey | The colour grey is the perfect neutral to make colour pop | Liss Springthorpe House, Cape Town by Antonio Zaninovic

I just love, love, love the colour grey, it is the perfect neutral to make colour pop. It doesn't have to be cool and crisp (blue undertones), choosing a grey with a yellow or brown base can bring warmth to a room and works perfectly with timber furniture and bright colours such as fuchsia pink, yellow and aqua.

My office walls (and Safari Fusion HQ) are painted a beautiful medium shade of grey, Dulux Doe; during the day with the northern light shining my office is light and bright, whilst in the evening under lighting it has a more moody atmosphere.

Namji Dolls are back!

Safari Fusion blog | Namji Dolls are back! | Decorative African fertility dolls adorned with beads and cowrie shells by Safari Fusion
Back by popular demand are more of our colourful tribal style Namji Dolls.

Traditionally crafted as a doll for young Namji girls, they were adorned with beads, shells and other decorative trinkets and treasured into adulthood. Our modern version is crafted from a single piece of timber in striking geometric style, decorated with bright colour beads, cowrie shells and mounted on a perspex stand.

Available in two designs with a choice of colour - Blue, Emerald, Lime, White and Yellow.

Light the way [part 2]

Safari Fusion blog | Light the way [part 2] | Bird nest lights at photographer Micky Hoyle's organic style Cape Town home
I love how nature is the inspiration behind some of the beautiful and unique lighting you find in African homes, lodges and hotels.

Such as these weaver bird nest inspired pendants [image 1] featured in photographer Micky Hoyle's Cape Town home and the incredible hippo skeleton [image 3] re-purposed as a dining room chandelier in the luxurious safari style residence of Leobo Private Reserve in South Africa's Waterberg mountains.
